Not entirely sure these statistics impress me. All technology gets anthropomorphized at some point, to the extent that it reduces effort and makes life easier, but to conflate human interactive experiences, such as friendship, with the facility – no matter how smart – of a robot, is to err. Children’s opinions aside (probably more than 64% believe in Santa Claus too), I’m not convinced that any machine needs to be thought of as “humanizing” – perhaps “facilitating”; it is humans who must humanize each other, with or without the help of technology. Hopefully, technology can assist humans in the process of humanizing each other, yes??
